Qu'ran Burning Called Off

This is an original post, not an archive copy from the Dove World Outreach Center.

Dr Terry Jones said he has canceled plans to burn copies of the Quran because the leader of a much-opposed plan to build an Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed.
The Rev. Terry Jones said Thursday that Americans oppose the mosque being built at the location and that Muslims do not want the Quran burned. He said instead of his plan to burn the books on Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of 9/11, he will be flying to New York to speak to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf about moving the mosque.
"We are, of course, now against any other group burning Qurans," Jones said during a news conference. We would right now ask no one to burn Qurans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it."

Meh. Should have known he'd go dhimmi under the pressure of the Leftist Media. I guess I'll have to burn one on Saturday just on General Principles.

by Fran Ingram, member of Dove World Outreach Center for 20 years.
So the world wants to know: Who are you people? That’s what we are asking you. Who are you?
In Joshua, Chapter 5, the Angel of the Lord, with sword drawn meets Joshua just before the battle of Jericho. Joshua challenges the Angel. "Are you for us or for our enemies?"
"Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." (verse 13,14) Joshua realizes his mistake. What the commander cared about was whose side was Joshua on? Jericho could have been spared if they had not rejected God and his people.
So on the one hand, it is not relevant who we are. However, who we are now is a challenge to the whole world.
Dove World Outreach Center is a Christian organization located in Gainesville, Florida. We do not have a formal membership roster, but currently have about 50 members. It has always been, and now is even more so, a place led by strong leaders who are not afraid to speak the truth and to courageously stand by their convictions. We have lived and traveled around the world and have many years of experience in Christian ministry as Pastors and teachers, in evangelism, in caring generously for people in need, and in running small businesses that support the ministry. We live simply, work hard, and have a deep respect for the Bible, the Word of God. We are forever humbled and thankful that Jesus, the Son of God, died on the Cross for our sins. We believe that speaking the truth boldly outside the church walls is God’s call on the Christian church today.
Much of our ministry experience has been in Europe where we worked among many types of people, including Moslems, leading many to Christ. We have watched with dismay the decline of Christianity over the last four decades in Europe and now also in America, along with the global rise of Islam and its impact on the West. Europe has already lost freedom of speech on this subject, but we still have some room and time here in America to raise awareness and warn.
Moslems are fond of debate and discussion. They do not appreciate the fact that usually we simply preach. But we follow what they teach, say and do. They are open and aggressive with their beliefs and propaganda, and news reports around the world are full of the fruit of Islam: lies, violence and oppression.
We also follow the work of many men and women of courage who are putting their lives at risk to expose the evils of Islam, though their styles and methods differ from ours. Some are ex-Moslems, now Christian: Walid Shoebat, Nonie Darwish, Mosab Hassan Yousef, Nabil Quereshi, Simon Deng. Other ex-Moslems are: Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Ibn Warraq, Brigitte Gabriel. Then there are many Christians, Jews and atheists writing, speaking and publishing on websites: Geert Wilders, Mark Steyn, Norman Podhoretz, Chris Logan, David Wood, Robert Spencer, Pamella Geller, Bill Warner, David Horowitz, Daniel Greenfield, thereligionofpeace.com, Creeping Sharia, Answering Islam, Acts 17 Apologetics, and many more.
From my vantage point as assistant leadership in various roles at Dove World Outreach Center, I have watched many people come and go over the years.  A bold message of repentance and righteousness is initially attractive to many but is not popular over the long haul. This is not a church where you sit and receive for long. You are challenged to give and serve, to love God with all your heart and pay the price for that. Many professed to being called to the vision and the place, but when the going got tough...
Now that we are outspoken about Islam, we may literally be paying with our lives. But we know Christians all over the world suffer and die for their faith, especially in Islamic countries. And little is said or done in their defense. Why should our lives be more valuable than theirs? We can also make an impact now on the world our grandchildren will live in.
The accusation hungry media has recently republished old criticisms of the Senior Pastors from vocal former members of the church. I have my doubts that any of these individuals would be willing to step forward and have their lives and conduct publicly scrutinized, as have Dr Terry and Sylvia Jones. This is the cost of bold Christian leadership today. I also know that the claims of these accusers are groundless. There has been no fraud, tax evasion or abuse. All the leaders of this organization are men and women of integrity who conduct their lives with the highest moral and ethical standards. The question that any of us may be doing this for personal gain is the most absurd. We have a lot of enemies.
Jesus told his disciples that they would be hated for his sake, and that even families would be divided. Christians throughout history have experienced this truth, especially when they were not willing to compromise their faith to please men and ‘save’ their own lives through a false peace. In Christianity today there are surprisingly few leaders with his conviction. We are calling them to take a stand.
There can be no compromise with the devil. Moslems we love and care for, but Islam is plain evil. The Koran cannot be respected or revered, nor should it be. We are fully within our Constitutional right to burn Korans here in America on our own property. The FBI and Police have come by to warn us of threats and danger, and to suggest that we not hold the event, however they confirm our right to do so, and said they knew we would not back down.
The reaction to this plan is daily evidence that the stronghold of Islam has gripped the world with fear and anger. This is not coming from us. It is in the hearts and minds of the world. Moslems claim that Allah will protect his book. We aim to demonstrate to the world what Allah is - a false God.
One closing thought: we do serve the God of Elijah. You?
Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18)
16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"
18 "I have not made trouble for Israel," Elijah replied. "But you and your father's family have. You have abandoned the LORD's commands and have followed the Baals. 19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
20 So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. 21 Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him."
      But the people said nothing.

22 Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD's prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God."
Then all the people said, "What you say is good."

25 Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire." 26 So they took the bull given them and prepared it.
Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. "O Baal, answer us!" they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.

27 At noon Elijah began to taunt them. "Shout louder!" he said. "Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened." 28 So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. 29 Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD, which was in ruins. 31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Your name shall be Israel." 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs [a] of seed. 33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, "Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood."
34 "Do it again," he said, and they did it again.
"Do it a third time," he ordered, and they did it the third time.
35 The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.
36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again."
38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, "The LORD -he is God! The LORD -he is God!"

Reasons to Protest Islamic Centers and Mosques

We have been protesting Islam with sings and T-Shirts in public places for a year now. This Monday, July 5, we will be standing in protest outside the Islamic Center on University Avenue in Gainesville, Florida.

Islam is of the Devil for many reasons.

In a recent Braveheart Show on Youtube, Dr Terry Jones explains our stand:

There is only one way to heaven, through Jesus. There is only one true religion, and that is Christianity. There is only one true book, and that is the Bible. True, there is freedom of religion in America, but not under Islamic law.

Islam is a totalitarian form of government, ruled by Sharia Law. It is not only a religion. It has its own constitution, its own set of laws.

There is no such thing as moderate Islam. There is no such thing as peaceful Islam. There are moderate or peaceful Moslems, but there is no peaceful Islam or moderate Islam, because you cannot separate Islam from Islamic Law, and Islamic law calls for violence, jihad, war, hates Israel, hates Christians. So there is no such thing as the "good old Islam down the road." Their desire is to rule, reign, take over.

What do we need to do in the United States?

Stop all Islamic immigration. They are only coming to this country to take over and try to enforce and force their Islamic laws upon us, through population growth, political means, educational means. In Europe they have already done it. In the United States they are trying to get Sharia Courts that would judge outside of our Constitution, that would allow things like wife beating and honor killings to be OK.

Demand that all Moslems that are here must adapt to our values, that they become Americans. If they want to stay Moslems, with their culture, their Islamic law, then they can stay in Moslem dominated countries. The United States is a melting pot. You come here, you become an American, you speak English, you adapt to our values, our Constitution, our way of life. They should be made to sign a legal, binding document, pledging allegiance, like you do when you become a United States Citizen, to their new home, the United States of America.

If they commit any criminal acts and they are not nationalized citizens, we should deport them. We should send them back to their country. They have a passport, they are here because of our good grace. If they commit crimes, plot terrorism, that is where our grace ends and they get sent back.

We should stop, immediately, the building of all mosques in America until they allow us to build churches in Saudi Arabia, until we can build churches in Iran, Iraq, in countries that are dominated by Islam. They will not let us do that. There is no freedom there. Why should we let them come here and abuse our freedom? Basically, take our freedom and turn it against us? Use our legal system, use it as a weapon against us? No new mosques should be built until we are able to evangelize there, build churches there, until we also have that type of freedom in that country.

We must close all Islamic schools. They are not beacons of education. They are not there, like our schools, teaching reading, writing and arithmetic, history. They indoctrinate the young people, not in religion, (that would be OK: we have in America freedom of religion) but in Sharia Law. We must not forget, Sharia Law calls for the death of homosexuals, the death of adulterers, inhumane punishment of criminals.

We must, as soon as we can, according to our political system, democracy, republic, as soon as we can vote again, we must remove all weak leadership. Weak leadership will destroy a nation, because if our leaders do not lead, then somebody, something else will lead us, and right now we are not being led by God and godly principles.

In the video linked here at faithfreedom.org, Wafa Sultan talks about the criminal trial of Geert Wilders. Neither she nor Geert Wilders are Christians, but their concerns for the preservation of Judeo-Christian freedoms in Europe and America are the same concerns we have. Mrs Sultan points out that Moslems themselves are both “oppressed and oppressive.” She is fighting for Moslems, not against them, and so are we.

We do not hate Moslems or wish them harm. On the contrary, we long for their freedom. They have been deceived by a false religion, a false prophet, and are trapped under a heavy demonic bondage. Mrs Sultan would not express it in those terms, but we see this as both a spiritual and political fight, one in which millions of lives and souls are at stake.

There is a growing movement around the world of groups and individuals who are trying to raise awareness about the teachings of Islam and the plans and goals of Islamic leaders around the world. They are politicians, academics and religious leaders, Christians and non-Christians. We are the only Christian church in the world that has taken such a bold stand for our faith and freedoms against Islam. This may only be possible now in America, and we may not have this freedom for long if more do not join us.

The American government and media are largely silent on these issues or are sympathetic to Islam. This may be because of simple ignorance, but there is mounting evidence that financial, political and social pressure is being applied by Moslems here and abroad to silence discussion of the true nature and intent of Islam, and to push for Sharia law and Sharia compliance to be accepted.

Mrs Sultan calls the teaching of Islam in the West ‘sugar coated.’ The literal Islamic classical Arabic Koran and the accounts of the life of Mohammad, are not translated accurately. Nor should they be, according to Moslems, as this would be sacrilege. Yet scholars of classical Arabic, like Wafa Sultan and many other former Moslems and Arabic speaking non-Moslems, do have freedom to accurately translate and comment on Moslem teachings, culture and society.

The result of this willful deception, we can now see, is a rise in conversions to Islam and of sympathy and appeasement toward Islamic peoples and states. I have outlined my concerns for Moslem women in this video on Truthtube. Youtube took it to be slander and removed it from my account there, but the harsh and often brutal realities that face Moslem women everyday are not made clear to potential converts. And somehow the rights of Moslem women are not being championed sufficiently.

So we see a need to do ‘something.’ We have heard so many objections to our work and stand, which all amount to the same thing: put your light under a bushel, suppress the truth, hide in your church again, shut up!

If you are one of these people, you have a problem. We are Christians and we are Americans. In the world today, there is no other combination of faith and nation that hands you so much freedom, the last bastion of truth in these end times.

If you agree with some or all of our stand, then join us, stand with us, support us. Let us take the hits that come from standing on the 'front line' if you can't, but do something. Every kind of support we receive is welcome.

While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the LORD their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God. Nehemiah 9:3

While they stood in their place. One of the important keys of a functioning church, functioning body, a functioning company: everybody finds their place, knows their place, gets put in their place, and functions in their place.

We can see, actually, more and more, how our form of government is unscriptural. There is no democracy in heaven. In heaven you do not get to vote. Actually the only true form of Biblical government (this will get you in trouble) is a dictatorship, with God being the dictator. Democracy is not scriptural. It may be, it could be, the best form of government we can have here on earth. It could be, because of the human element. The human element cannot be trusted.

The only alternative we have, probably, is a republican democracy, but in heaven it is a dictatorship. You don’t get to vote, you don’t get an opinion.  In heaven it has to be done God’s way. He is the dictator, he is the authority. So if you are planning to get along in heaven, you might as well start obeying now, because you will have lots of trouble in heaven when you are already here disobedient.

They read from the book. Separation of church and state is not Biblical. They read for a fourth of the day. They did not get some little sermon. Jimmy Swaggart used to say? “Sermonettes make Christainettes.” There was not, here, a 30 minute preaching, a 10 minute Youtube, a one and a half drinking with Bob. Here they read for hours and hours. the Word of God had a priority. It was there. It should have a priority in your life.

Maybe you have to work, but there is some time that is completely open ended. For most of you all, around 8 o’clock, we ‘own’ you. If you work for TSC Moving, Dove World Outreach Center, the Lisa Jones House. But the rest of the time we don’t. You could get up at 4 in the morning. It is only sleep! Dr Yongi Cho said he slept only 4 hours a day. he built the largest church of all time. Sometimes he did not even go home. Sometimes he stayed for months in his office praying, spent the night there. We can do a lot of things. We can do a lot more things. Do you know why we can’t? Because we have been babied by our parents. And we baby ourselves.

I hope this next generation, the Calebs and Jacksons, and others, I hope they are not babied. I mean, boys and girls need to be patted on the head, but don’t baby them. Let them fall out of a tree and get all scratched up. It won’t hurt you. You don’t whine there, boy! Quit your whining around. We have a whole generation of whiners.

They confessed and worshipped the Lord their God. That was a holiday. They confessed their sins. We need to confess. If you don’t have a lot of them, good. You may not have a whole lot of them. I hope not. Like Clint Eastwood, hadn’t been to confession in 50 years, finally went and had 3 things to confess. Maybe that’s you. But we need to confess the sins of our nation. I can’t get over it. I can’t get over what we have done!

We have an organization in America called the Equal Opportunity Employment Council. We have just appointed a lesbian to head that Council. Who says openly  this means gays have won, Christians have lost. This means any issue concerning homosexuality and religious rights, the Christians will always loose. It is the state of our nation. That’s only one little thing, and I bet none of you had already heard that, huh? Where’s the news media now?

The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. Nehemiah 9:2

The descendants of Israel are also a rebellious people. They are still rebellious. They don’t even believe in Jesus. Now is getting heavy! Well, all the teaching today is heavy… but this is what you need to do. This will cause some trouble. But that is somehow just good. Look at Jesus. He caused nothing but trouble. People were so mad at Jesus they killed him. They crucified him. Jesus was innocent. Everywhere I have gone I have caused trouble. I am a nice, easy person, not hot tempered, but everywhere I go somehow I just cause trouble.

The first thing I said to my family when I got saved was you need to get saved. Do you know what happened? A couple of them got saved, most of them got mad. But some of them got saved. My Mom got saved, some other people got saved, and the rest mad. See? That’s our job. Either make them mad or saved. I mean they are unsaved anyway, so what difference does it make if they are mad or not mad? They are going to hell. You can go to hell mad just as well as you can go to hell happy. You are going to hell.

But we don’t do that because we don’t believe in hell. We don’t really believe in hell. If you really believe that your Mom, your Dad, they are going to hell, you would stand up. You would preach to them. Make them so spittin’ mad they would throw you out of the house or they would get saved, if you really believed in hell. They are going to hell. If they are not born again, saved, go to church, follow God obey God, they are going to hell. They are going straight to hell. Good person, bad person, they are going to go to hell. they are not going to pass GO, collect $200. They are to go to hell. We don’t really believe God.

They separated themselves. If we preach this they get mad, they call it a cult. I have always warned about getting involved with the wrong kind of people. Somehow they influence us more than we influence them. That’s why you have to separate. A foreigner is someone who is not a citizen. He is an alien. If you are a foreigner in America you are not a citizen. You are an American. If you are a foreigner in the Kingdom, you are not born again. You are not saved. You are not there.

So sooner or later you have to make a decision. You have to separate yourself. There has to be some type of separation, some type of line drawn. Does that mean I can never talk to them, never go there? Not necessarily. But there has to be really a clear line. It says here that they separated themselves.

What about your school friends? Have you got friends that are not saved and don’t come to church? Well actually you are only going to have them for a short period of time. And during that time they need to get saved, born again, come to church, or you need to drop them, get rid of them. That’s the way it goes. That’s what they Bible says. And it is actually only logical because the more you hang around them the more you will become like them. You will probably not deny God but you will become luke warm, your will begin to sympathize with them. You will begin to understand them. You will begin to see their point of view. And something will happen. You will begin to loose that radicalness. You will loose that cutting edge.

We have never, I believe, lost our cutting edge because we have not done. Never. We don’t go to Pastor breakfasts, we don’t hang around, we don’t waste our time, we don’t do this or that with relatives, with not relatives. You loose your cutting edge. Believe me, you may not loose your salvation but you will lose your cutting edge. You are no longer radical. We do not have a radical generation. People are not even close to being radical.

They stood and confessed the sins and iniquities of their fathers. Wow! I bet that made the relatives mad. Go and have Easter with your family, start confessing sins and confronting your relatives. The churches have lost that. If it is true. It may not be true. Even if it is a little bit true, we’ve got a long ways to go. According to the Westboro Baptist church, 600,000 churches in America do not preach the Gospel. I believe their estimates are not far off. They no longer preach, confront, or talk about sin. They no longer do that. They no longer talk about immorality, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, sin.

Even if it is grossly exaggerated. Even is it is some fanatical number, even if it is 100,000 churches. I mean, churches! Why did Jesus come? Jesus did not come for you to have a bigger house, a better car and more money. That can be a side effect and blessing, but that is not why he came. He came that you might get saved and forgiven, saved from hell! Saved from your sins! You cannot do that unless that type of message is preached.

The Pastor of one of the biggest churches in America, one of the most famous Pastors of all time, probably, said, “I have people in my church from all faiths.” Now, doesn’t that sound nice? Doesn’t that sound totally ridiculous, luke warm and liberal? You might have them for a little while, but not for very long. They will either get saved or leave.

Can you imagine us here? I mean, how luke warm would we have to be if here in the church we had Moslems and Buddhists, atheists, Christians, agnostics, Hindus, people of all faiths at Dove World Outreach Center! That can’t be! For a little while, until they get born again, they get saved, or until they leave.

The most prideful people I have met were the people that were the most unsuccessful: Nehemiah Part 49

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them. Nehemiah 9:1
Fasting is sacrifice. Fasting is OK. It is not much fun, but you learn about yourself. You learn about how fleshly you actually are, just to miss one meal. What do I always say when it comes 12:30? I don’t want anyone missing lunch! I have never one time seen someone miss lunch. They forget Sunday They forget to listen. They forget to obey. they forget to pick up the parking lot. They forget their tithes, but they never forget lunch.
They assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, with dirt on them. They humbled themselves. We need that. That’s why we need the Academy. Actually we need the Academy in it’s pure form, which was basically the first year. That’s where we teach humility, about back talking. We have a society of big mouths, a society of little kids and teenagers and half adults, half grown, who know everything. They read it in some book. They think they think. These people were humble. They humbled themselves.
Do you know what I have found in thirty years of ministry? The most prideful people I have met were the people that were the most unsuccessful. It’s amazing. I have known people to be very successful. Whether it be my father-in-law, whether it be the people in the hotel business I knew, that owned the whole company, the many, many successful people. They were actually humble. And I have  seen so many ‘loosers’ and they were most prideful. They were unsuccessful and  unteachable. You cannot teach them anything, you cannot correct them, they know everything. They know everything but have done nothing.
It says here to humble ourselves. How do we humble ourselves? There are actually two ways you can measure how humble you are. Not necessarily by fasting, sackcloth, ashes, dirt. Lots of people are dirty but they are not humble. Dirty is easy. Just go and take a bath.
How can we tell if we are humble? You are humble? How much do you obey and how much do you ask? I have found those two things are the hardest things for people to do. I think to obey is easier than asking. Boy, oh boy, is asking difficult. In our modern technology society, when everyone has a cell phone, when it takes all of ten seconds to call someone, we do not ask. We do not check, we do not take that, probably because we don’t have time? It only takes 10 seconds. We don’t have a  phone? Everyone’s got a phone. Pride. We don’t obey because we know better. We don’t ask because we know better. Because we don’t want to. Because asking is a form of humility. It is humbling yourself under someone, to ask can we do that, should we do that, should we do this. Obedience and asking. You can ask yourself by that.
